○      Iberá Wetlands, Argentina: 10th - 17th September 2023

Journeys With Purpose, the pioneering conservation travel specialist, has released two awe-inspiring itineraries for 2023. Travellers participate in the world’s most ambitious conservation and rewilding projects, hosted by the pioneering conservationists that drive them. The ultra-exclusive departures offer guests unprecedented access to groundbreaking environmental programmes that work to restore landscapes, biodiversity, wildlife and livelihoods in the wildest corners of the earth.

Guests contribute to the creation of the so-called ‘Yellowstone of Europe’ in Carpathia, Romania, led by Christoph and Barbara Promberger, who have spent more than 15 years protecting and restoring the biodiversity of Europe’s last remaining virgin forest wilderness. Alternatively, guests participate in the creation of Iberá National Park, Argentina, hosted by Sofía Heinonen and the Fundación Rewilding Argentina (FRA) team. Guests assist with the reintroduction of endangered species and identify the endemic flora and fauna in the Iberá Wetlands.

“Our journeys invite guests to contribute to some of the world’s most ambitious conservation and rewilding projects,” said Duncan Grossart, Founder of Journeys With Purpose. “Guests have access to the bold and inspiring individuals that drive these programmes and see their extraordinary achievements first hand. The projects in Romania and Argentina are just the beginning - guests connect with these environments and often develop a deep-rooted desire to conserve, protect and restore the world’s remaining wildernesses.”

JWP’s transformative journeys demonstrate travel as a force for good. The experiences invite guests to celebrate the wonders of the natural world and consequently motivate them to protect, conserve and restore it. Much greater than a holiday, guests are provided with first hand experience in the field, working in small groups to contribute to projects that achieve real world impact.

JWP is a member of 1% for the Planet, The Long Run, and a Certified B Corp, and it has been awarded B Corp's “Best for the World: Environment 2022” as B Corp’s highest scoring travel company.

Carpathian Mountains, Romania: 24th June - 1st July 2023

An immersion deep into the Carpathian Mountains, Europe’s second largest mountain system, hosted by Christoph and Barbara Promberger, founders of Foundation Conservation Carpathia (FCC). Over the course of 15 years, the team has preserved almost 63,000 acres (25,400 hectares) of forests and alpine meadows, started a breeding programme for “Carpatin” livestock guard dogs to support anti-poaching measures, and reintroduced beavers and bison to the region. JWP guests spend eight days in the Stramba Valley tracking the rehabilitation of bison and beaver, sharing a habitat with lynx, wolves and brown bears, and learning from Europe’s conservation pioneers.

How: €8,375 / $8,375 per person full board based on two people sharing and including domestic transfers and 20% donation to FCC. Excludes international flights. More here

Iberá Wetlands, Argentina: 10th - 17th September 2023

Hosted by Sofía Heinonen and the Fundación Rewilding Argentina (FRA) team, this journey offers firsthand engagement with the reintroduction of endangered species, immersion into the unique flora and fauna of the Iberá Wetlands, and fireside chats with the experts behind the remarkable rewilding initiative. Sofía personally led some of the first efforts to bring rewilding to South America, more than 15 years ago, and her efforts to restore the Iberá wetlands, the largest wetland ecosystem in Argentina, has led to the reintroduction of jaguar to the region following 70 years disappearance and the creation of 7.6 million acres of national parks across the country.

How: USD $14,225 per person full board based on two people sharing and including domestic transfers and 20% donation to FRA.  Excludes international flights. More here.
